EP Review: Demeted – Rituals (Seek & Strike)

Demeted, the four-piece metalcore/deathcore band from Poland, will release their brand-new EP, ‘Rituals’ on May 9th, 2025, via Seek & Strike.

Blending modern metalcore with themes inspired by indigenous Polish folklore, Demeted are a special band, and while they might sit in the ‘core’ genre as a whole, they are not as easily definable as you might first think. They can be summed up as a highly creative and hugely impressive band that challenges and inspires in equal amounts.

They are producing some of the best and brightest heavy music in modern times and the proof comes in six forms. The first of which, Whispers, sets the bar as far as intensity and dramatics go. It’s got a thick vein of chaos running through it, but it’s also very atmospheric, and while it is more of an intro track, it still goes very freaking hard.

Speaking of going hard though, the next couple of tracks, Evoke and Basilisk, will leave you seeing stars. A pair of hefty tracks, delivering unfiltered heavy intensity, warped by a darker side that the band has clearly dug deep to find. The ion that is exuded here is remarkable, but perhaps the most impressive thing is that there are anthemic qualities here too. Not what you expect with music this dark, cold, and concentrated. Especially as the latter of those two tracks fits more in the deathcore side of things.

It’s such an exciting release, and that excitement reaches feverish levels with Naiad. A stompy head banger with ferocious ‘core’ elements, structurally interesting, and filled with dramatic power. It’s a highlight reel of a track, evident by an absolutely killer chorus.

Finally, and so satisfyingly, it’s the title track and Inheritance. The former, Demeted at their most manic and melodic, seeing the band go from savage verses to a soaring chorus in an instant. Whereas the latter is a beastly body shaker with thick and elaborate rhythms and vocals that sound like something being regurgitated. Harsh and heavy, but so damn listenable too. I love it.

The singles told me that this was likely to be a killer release, but this killer? That’s unexpected and very welcome. Demeted have arrived!
