EP Review: Lefokolodi – The Milk Was Finished Cos We Were Thirsty (Self Released)
South African punk rock/metal band Lefokolodi will release their long-awaited debut EP ‘The Milk Was Finished Cos We Were Thirsty’ on the 23rd of May 2025.
Going for anthems, all singing and bouncing anthems that every single person listening will feel compelled to in with, Lefokolodi GET punk rock. Especially punk rock that sits on the heavier and more intense side of things. Delivering five raucous bangers that are filled with heart and soul and get well and truly jammed in the brain matter. From the moment BUTT HURT arrives in animated style, most listeners will be all in on what they’re offering.
Banger after banger as Mozzie shakes, rattles, and rolls in fancy fashion, an incredibly danceable track with bursts of high-powered heaviness to keep the listener on their toes. Snake Dick then comes along to add some eccentrics to things, Lefokolodi pushing a more experimental style forward, before Za za’s impeccable blend of retro alternative rock vibes, modern creative crossover aspects, and lovable zaniness impresses. It’s a very strong EP overall, but this track is gold.
Sold? Of course you are, but just in case, here’s one more eager effort called 8 tit bitties. Lefokolodi proving, once again, that their ability to craft excitable, dynamic, and infectious punk rock and metal fusions with ease. I love it, and so will you.
