Band Interview: Void Collapse
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with death metal band, Void Collapse.
1. How did you get started as a band?
I’ve always been into death metal. The past twenty years I’ve been working towards doing this project. Getting what I need to record, learning how to play, and trying to find a drummer. It’s amazing how long it takes, but every day you’re just stuff gets done, and now the ideas are getting fully realized.
2. How would you describe your sound?
First decade of the 2000’s style death metal with flourishes of electronic, spoken word, and catchy elements to paint a picture or set the tone. The base is mainly death metal though.
3. What bands/artist have influenced your style of music?
Cryptopsy, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Origin, The Red Chord, Classical Music, The Beach Boys, Annie Lennox, a lot of musicians.
4. Has the rise of YouTube music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Both. It helps, because you can release albums, and become your own record label. It hurts because everyone releases records, and is their own record label, and what you’re doing is lost in the fray. It’s fine though. I think as much music as possible should be out there just floating around.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I have a family that I spend my time with. I work full time a chemical plant. I illustrate classic style pictures and do flat art. Yard work, lol.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We can’t really tour or play out. Shane and I don’t live in the same state, and our lives don’t really lend to playing shows. Musically just keep releasing albums. We just started a four album concept with our newest album Gwenda. We’re doing four full albums dedicated to the each queen of the tarot deck. So, we’re just focusing on that for right now.
