Bloodstock Open Air 2022 takes place from August 11th and August 14th with a line-up that might be one of the best the festival has ever put on. A wide array of rock and metal acts spread across four stages, it’s looking likely to be a weekend not to be missed. Pick up tickets here.

Headpress is a four-piece extreme metal band formed in Stoke-On-Trent, UK in 1999. Yes, you read that right. Although the current line-up has been together since 2008.

Notable for their three-point vocal attack style, Headpress’ brand of extreme metal is intense and noisy. A groovy style of hardcore metal that will make you stomp and gurn about the place. To date, the band has released three EPs, with the latest being 2015’s Shapen Into Spite and have made quite a name for themselves in the underground scene.

While that release may have been quite a while ago, Headpress haven’t been lazing around as those who have experienced the band live can attest too. Their drive and desire saw them enter the Stoke Metal 2 the Masses and, up against some hefty competition, they won the entire thing.

If that wasn’t enough, Headpress will also release a brand-new single and video called ‘Outlines’ on August 4th. As well as having plenty more music in the works to ensure Bloodstock is not the culmination but rather the next step for this band.

Hitting the New Blood stage on the Saturday of the festival, there’s a strong sense that Headpress may deliver one of the most brutal sets of the weekend. Unless you’re a masochist, you might want to stay away from the pit. We spoke to the band and asked them what it meant to be playing the festival this year. They had this to say:

Bloodstock feels like a 2nd home to us. Having watched hundreds of bands grace the stages across the years, we feel honoured to now be a part of the best UK festival, bar none.
