EP Review: Blackfyre Rising – Blackfyre Rising (Self Released)

Scottish hard rock quartet, Blackfyre Rising, will release their self-titled EP on June 6th, 2025.

Rock delivered with gusto; Blackfyre Rising’s new EP is a thoroughly enjoyable effort that features four lovable tracks with varying degrees of excitability. Starting with the high-powered riff-focused banger that is I’m Alright. If you’re not immediately sold on this band based off this infectious hit, clean your bloody ears out.

It’s nice to hear them being a bit creative in places too, even if the focus is anthems, and on that front, Blackfyre Rising have crafted indisputable and irresistible efforts. The Cycle coming next, delivering a groovy effort with raucous sounding guitars and vocals that seem to dictate the pace. Before Spellbound Woman adds a touch of sexiness to the instrumentals, Blackfyre Rising leaning into more ‘classic’ aspects of the hard rock sound and style. It’s all kinds of cool, and the guitar soloing is great.

How do you finish off an EP like this? With a bit more melody, plenty of drama, hyperactive rock intensity, some experimentation, and a stronger sense of the word ‘epic’. Blackfyre Rising living up to the mantra ‘go big or go home’ and ending their banger EP in style.

Blackfyre Rising – Blackfyre Rising Track Listing:

1. I’m Alright
