EP Review: Brake Loose – Frenetic (Symphonic Distribution)

Brake Loose unleash their dirty, mischievous, fearless raw rock ‘n’ roll sound with the debut EP ‘Frenetic’ out 30th May 2025.

With a very accessible rock sound via guitarist David O’Grady, bassist Juanjo Pulpeiro, and drummer Nando Alonso, and led by the lovably smooth vocals of Venezuelan singer and poet Alex Murillo, it won’t take long for most to hear exactly why this band are so lauded. This is rock music that appeals to all, stadium-sized, yet it retains the heart and soul of something more direct.

Beginning in retro rock fashion (I love the synth) with Dancing on the Red Line, Brake Loose immediately take up residence in the head with this diabolically catchy, but touching, effort. Trust me, you’ll be dancing on whatever line you can find once this starts playing.

Treat Her Like a Rose is up next and showcases the punchier side of Brake Loose, were the vocals kind of drawl in sleazy fashion. Followed by vigorous body shaker that is Love on Fire, and the thicker melodies of Kiss Me Bye Bye. Each as infectious as the other, robustly rocking, and universally appealing. I won’t spoil it for you, but the latter of those tracks has something really special to show around the four-minute mark.

Although if we’re talking about a track that will delight just about everyone, REBEL REBEL (Evil Like the Devil) is pretty much untouchable. There’s a reason it has already amassed over 200K streams, so chances are, you’re wholly familiar with its anthemic ways. It’s a head banger, a foot tapper, a fist pumper, and so much more. An exclamation mark on this EP, rest assured, this is a band with a blindingly bright future.
