EP Review: Iron Form – Cut from Cold Blood (Church Road Records)

Metalcore titans Iron Form will release their debut EP ‘Cut from Cold Blood’, via Church Road Records on March 21st, 2025. A concept record that weaves a narrative of unforeseen suffering and a long fight through harsh, unrelenting circumstances. A common story of many who must not only endure a painstaking existence but push forward with willpower and resilience.

Featuring an explosive metal approach with emphatic infusions of modern post-hardcore intensity, melody and a bulbous vein of rawness running through it, Iron Form’s debut EP is one to bang your head to. Yet, impressively, it has so much more to say and show, which is where the true longevity of this release (and the band) comes in.

It’s five attention grabbing tracks that combine the best of old-school post hardcore (throat-tearing vocals included), anthemic metalcore, and with modern twists to the melody and metal formula. Five exciting and memorable bangers that showcase frenetic intensity (New History), infectious dramatic gloom (Spirit Rain), and layers of melodic harmony (Vengeance Prayer). The first half of the EP is straight up fire.

How about the heady blast of power that is Become the Blade though? Here, Iron Form showcase an even more intense style of vocals and lean more into the post-hardcore side of things, where melody is kept front and centre, but doesn’t detract from the heavier feel.

It’s awesome, but so is the title track. Which sees Iron Form continue their impressive form with a crashing and smashing showcase of dramatic, near apocalyptic, heaviness. A big ending, and one that gives the EP some extra oomph. Although it’s hardly needed, this is an EP with plenty of freaking oomph!
