EP Review: Melting – You Exist Because We Allow It (Greyscale Records)
Metal outfit Melting, self-described as sonic aggression made in Melbourne, will release their much-anticipated debut EP ‘You Exist Because We Allow It’ out Friday May 2nd via Greyscale.

Delivering the kind of metallised chaos that draws heavily from the hardcore world, Melting’s debut EP is a noisy one. Featuring six absolute ragers that will leave you with the silliest smile on your face, provided you enjoy focused aggression delivered in hectic fashion. Who doesn’t?
Kicking off with one of the best, at least from a modern stylised hardcore front, it’s Unwavered and to borrow some words that the scene likes to use, this one ‘goes off’. Having beaten us over the head with that one, 874 comes next and somehow, is even more relentlessly chaotic. This short slice of brutality is all about its pit-inducing qualities, and it is going to be downright dangerous live.
Although you can certainly make that argument about every track on this EP, including something with a bit more depth and emotional expression like Guided By Hand Ov Witch And Corvid. It’s still absurdly intense, outrageously heavy, but it has melody too. Whereas Into the Suffer wants to leave you black and blue all over. The vocals are garishly throat-tearing here.
The penultimate track, Oblivion, is all about the breakdown and it is hard as f**k, especially as this one is less than a minute and a half long. Whereas the finale, Perhaps This is Hell showcases (again) the more melody-laced side of the band. Somewhat of an ‘epic’, without an epic length or over the top instrumentation. It’s a big closing track and a very satisfying finish to a quality EP overall.
