EP Review: Nerv – LOST (SGB Records)

Sacramento-based rock band Nerv will release their brand-new EP, ‘LOST’, (produced by Matt Good – Asking Alexandria, Escape the Fate), on May 9th, 2025, via SGB Records.

The rock world is theirs for the taking and when you hear an EP like this, you know it’s only a matter of time until they’re considered one of the biggest bands in the world. Not only is LOST a genre-bending release that fits in the alternative rock world comfortably, but it’s one with an immense amount of accessibility. Filled with power and ion, every single track here burns brightly, but every single track here also has a moment (some several) that makes it completely unforgettable.

In the case of opening track LOST!, it’s the mightily anthemic chorus, in the case of FAKE!, it’s the underlying aggression and growling vocals that give it a darker sound, and in the case of PANIC!, it’s the breakdown (I kid you not). The first half of the EP is really likable and shows that Nerv has variety to their sound too.

Undeniably appealing to a wide audience, there’s heightened drama with WASTED! Here, Nerv continue to show off the depth to their song-writing abilities and deliver another anthemic chorus. Before the aptly titled CHAOS! arrives with heavier potency (instrumentally) and vocals that really soar in places. One of the EP’s strongest efforts. Although the finale of PAIN! certainly doesn’t disappoint either, not when it comes with such speed, dramatics, and creative twists and turns.

It’s like I already said, the world is there for the taking, and all the proof anyone needs of that statement is in this EP.
