EP Review: Pinfinger – Death Spiral (Self Released)
Pinfinger, the London-based punk rock band, will release their debut EP ‘Death Spiral’ on May 23rd, 2025. A record that is conceptually inspired by the natural phenomenon where ants, misled by misinformation, march themselves into oblivion.
Announcing themselves with aplomb, Pinfinger’s punk rock ways comes in chaotic and animated form, while having a certain amount of infectious quality. From the start with What Do You Know, the EP gets the blood pumping noisily in the veins and gets the heart beating heavily in the chest. It’s exciting, with touches of noise and garage rock just to give it an even rawer feel.
Don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s cluttered or coarse, far from it, and with tracks like White Lies, See u Around, and Suicidal Genocide, Pinfinger prove that. As well as proving that they have more imagination than first expected, can be varied, and accessible. Infusing everything with ion and power, even when the middle of those three shows off a bit more of a grungy sound.
Capping off a banger of an EP is Circling the Drain, and one last wild and wonderful chance to lose yourself to the lively sound of it all. They’re a band with talent and this debuts tells us plenty about them.
