Horror Short Review: Netflix and Chill 5 (2025)

The fifth entry in ACMofficial’s Netflix and Chill’s series, Netflix and Chill 5 comes from Alex Magaña (with Jed Brian having a co-writing credit) and stars Chandler Love.

The former plays Autumn, who is really looking forward to some ‘me time’ in front of the TV. ‘Me time’ that is interrupted by Derek (Perry Polito), who calls as she has forgotten their dinner plans. No matter, he will grab takeout and come to her, except she’d rather be alone tonight, and the first of several small lies are told. Which, as we all know by now, start to come true.

It’s simple enough, a change of clothing and clogged toilet that she can’t quite explain, and then, as she is bothered by Paige (Paris Simpson) and her Aunt Sally (Emily Rhoads), things spiral. Getting more and more stressed, everything Autumn says starts to come true, even when she would rather it didn’t.

If you’ve seen any Netflix and Chill entry, you’ve seen this one, albeit a bit more developed as few would be coming into the fifth entry having not seen any others prior. Although it hardly matters, it’s not like there’s continuity, it’s just another version of the same story, and that’s fine. Nothing to get excited about, but also nothing to get mad at either. It would be nice if there was a bit more substance, especially now we’re reaching the fifth entry, but it’s not a demand. If you like what the other entries had to offer, you’ll like this too, especially as it’s ACMofficial 101, merch plugging and all.
