Interview: DiipSilence (Written – 2025)
In this interview, we catch up with DiipSilence, finding out what the electronic music artist-producer has been up to since we last spoke.
1. Hello! Welcome back. It’s been a little while, so first things first, how are you and have there been any significant changes since we last spoke?
Hello! Appreciate the welcome. I’ve been deep in the sauce—mentally, musically, spiritually. The biggest shift? I’ve leveled up my workflow and sound design game. In the middle of building my Atmos studio. I’ve also been trying not to lose my mind balancing art and life, which honestly is its own kind of wild synth patch.
2. So, what’s new? What’s keeping you busy this time around? A new album/EP/single release? A new video? Playing live, or planning ahead?
I’ve been building up my own studio for the past several months, can’t wait to work on more songs! Right now, I’m locked in the living room temp workstation with some modular synth cases which is not bad either—think of it as the audio equivalent of lucid dreaming inside a modular rig. Couple singles on deck, next single will be released in the next month. And planning out my first sound design online course.
3. Describe what fans/listeners can expect.
For this song I didn’t put too many experimental crazy noises. It’s a song-based project, but the listeners can still expect textures that melt and reform, like audio origami. This is the first time that I’ve used virtual singer, Synth V really blowed my mind. The sound design is immersive—field recordings bent into strange mallets, rhythms that breathe instead of march. Hope you’ll like the combination of soundscapes cinematic sound with a fresh virtual singer voice.
4. Tell me about the work that has gone into making it a reality and what it means to you to see it come to fruition?
For me all things start from sound. I grab inspirations from field recordings, then they became the blood, sweat, and bitter in my songs. I built half this thing out of found sounds and unrecognizable instruments. Talking about fruition, this time I think I finally can express myself with a virtual singer, I can write songs freely and do not think too much about how it would fit certain voice, I just need to find the voice.
5. Sum up what this latest development says about you and where you find yourself at this moment in time?
I’m still evolving, still pushing, and still obsessed. There’s no comfort zones coz I always love to break the rules, I’m pushing myself to design more intricate instruments from simple organic sound resources. It’s like leaning into the unknown—trying to blur the line between sound and music. It’s gonna be messy, raw, and real, but that’s exactly where I want to be.
6. Has the time since we last spoke been a mostly positive period and has there been any one thing that stands out as being good?
Definitely. Chaos was high around the world, but so was the inspiration. The standout would be some collaboration projects with artists, not only in music, but in the art world with painters, sculptors, etc. Weaving sound into art installations are so much fun, it opened up a whole new layer to the creative process in my own projects too.
7. How about something that has challenged you since we last spoke? Has there been any particular thing that tested you, and if so, how did you overcome it?
The burnout was real. The way out was leaning into collaboration—open your heart, letting other creatives in, even if just to share ideas or a few stems. It reminded me that music doesn’t have to be a solitary grind.
8. What is a realistic goal you’d like to achieve over the next 12 months?
First thing is to finish the studio construction. I’ve also recorded some videos, will post some “DIY How To” videos online since sharing knowledge is fun. I hope the Atmos immersive setup can translates the studio into a full-on atmospheric trip. Beyond that—keep releasing, keep evolving, and maybe, just maybe, sleep a full 8 hours once in a while.
