Volbeat – Time Will Heal

Volbeat are getting closer and closer to the release of their ninth album God Of Angels Trust. This album arrives on June 6th via longtime label Vertigo/Universal. Pre-order it here. The album will coincide with plenty of summer touring on the band’s ‘Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide’. Ahead of the release and touching down for tour, the band has shared the video for the impactful track Time Will Heal.

An intensely personal track for the band and its frontman, Michael Poulsen, who shares:

Through life, we go through these ups and downs, and sometimes, it’s like turning on a switch and it can change from one minute to another. We suddenly get in a sad, emotional mood where there just doesn’t seem to be a way to see the light or good in anything. But we always find a way to make things good again. I’m good at turning those moments around quickly, but that comes with accepting the good with the bad and using the bad moments to grow and learn instead of letting them bother you more that it should and having your mind manipulate reality. The important thing is to realise that while nothing can be good forever, do not let the dark side of life take over. Have the confidence to know there will be better days ahead when we’re dealing with these moments or demons and we’re struggling to find anything good in what we’re doing.

I’m still struggling with the loss of my father. I would say 80 percent of the time I’m coping with the loss and doing well. But then sometimes, I’m falling into these black holes where everything is empty and nothing is fair. I’m so grateful I have kids because when they come into your life, suddenly, everything is not about you. It’s about the kids and you can’t spend too much of your energy being down because they need you. So, it’s been a blessing having kids. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me.

Volbeat really do heart and soul songs so well, and this latest single is the epitome of the band’s sound when it gets uniquely personal. Be warned, this is a song with feeling and it might hit you in ways you don’t expect. Happily, it’s not a dour and depressing effort, more heartfelt and hopeful, while having an honest outlook, and features all the accessible catchiness we know and love this band for.

Sunniva – Mercurial Bloodstreams

Turku-based sludge metal force Sunniva releases ‘Mercurial Bloodstreams’, a harrowing new track from their debut album’ Hypostasis’, that challenges the illusions of progress and freedom in the modern age.

The band states:

We are constantly sold the dream of freedom, but the reality is only a few understand what true freedom even is – or if it can exist at all.

A powerful and thick listen that oozes blackened intensity, Sunniva’s sound is one based in misery, but with an unflinchingly honest focus. It’s music defined by how heavy it is, from both an instrumental and vocal perspective, but it’s the weight of the sludge that really leaves a mark. You’ll feel this one in the pit of your soul. Check it out here.

Shadow of Intent – Infinity of Horrors

Shadow of Intent have unveiled ‘Infinity of Horrors’, the third single from their full-length Imperium Delirium (out June 27 via Blood Blast Distribution). The track dives deeper into the psychological toll of war and conquest.

In place of a traditional quote, the band offer a sobering reflection from Florence Nightingale, whose words still echo today:

What the horrors of war are, no one can imagine. They are not wounds and blood and fever, spotted and low, or dysentery, chronic and acute, cold and heat and famine. They are intoxication, drunken brutality, demoralization and disorder on the part of the inferior… jealousies, meanness, indifference, selfish brutality on the part of the superior.

A brash showcase of explosive deathcore with that trademark Shadow of Intent flair, this new single is a beast of a track with some really gnarly moments. Shadow of Intent have been progressing, and their sound is tighter than ever here, but it’s the vocals that stand out the most. The brilliant sound of manic, but focused, fury. Check it out here.

This Dying Hour – Paranoia

High Wycombe-based metalcore veterans This Dying Hour have shared an explosive new single, titled ‘Paranoia’, alongside a brand-new music video. Discussing the new single and its themes, vocalist Leo Mesada comments:

This is an intense and reflective piece that captures the struggle between existential dread and the search for higher meaning. It explores themes like paranoia, inner conflict, self-discovery, and disillusionment with spiritual or societal narratives.

There’s a powerful contrast between feeling connected to something greater and the fear of succumbing to the chaos within.

A creative style of metalcore that has big anthemic value, This Dying Hour have power behind their sound, especially when the harmonised chorus hits. Combining that with rawer harsh vocals that appear elsewhere gives this one a fresher feel, albeit recognisably metalcore none the less. It’s a big sounding banger.

Fortitude Valley – Sunshine State

Northeast indie-rockers Fortitude Valley have signed to Specialist Subject Records and shared their new single and video ‘Sunshine State’. Taken from ‘Part Of The Problem, Baby’, their new album, out 1st August 2025.

Vocalist and songwriter Laura Kovic comments on the track:

Lyrically, the song is about moving away from Australia and dealing with those feelings. I found some old journals from when I was a teenager, and they made me reflect on how much I’d changed as a person. There were things about myself that I’d forgotten, but it was clear how much I’d always wanted to move to the UK. I was so keen to get away! From such a beautiful place! So the song is like: I’m going back to the Sunshine State to find my younger, more melodramatic self and catch-up with her.

Hopefully you are as excited about Fortitude Valley releasing new music as I am. This band, while on the softer side of my musical taste (I am a pop punk kid at heart though) just speaks to me, and once again, they’ve delivered a sweet, heart-warming, memorable, and infectious piece of indie rock with this new single. One that captures the feeling of youth, from a nostalgic perspective, and all the melodrama that comes with it. It’s wonderful. It is released on Tuesday 20th May and can be streamed here.

Archers – Wide Awake

Wisconsin metalcore powerhouse Archers have just dropped their latest single, ‘Wide Awake’, now available on all streaming platforms. ‘Wide Awake’ is from their EP, ‘Temporary High’, due out on 13th June via SBG Records.

In regards to the EP, the band states:

Temporary High is all about finding catharsis. It’s about breaking free from toxic cycles and finding value in oneself apart from anyone or anything that would try to usurp one’s own identity.

A strong offering from Archers that features big melodies, crunchy heaviness, and a solid amount of anthemic value, all leaning towards the sound of familiar metalcore. Though that’s not a knock, Archers are a powerful band and do a really good job of balancing melody and metal here.

Delilah Bon – Princeless Princess

Delilah Bon returns with fire, unveiling her fierce new single ‘Princeless Princess’, the title track from her EP set for release this September.

Delilah enthuses:

This one’s for every girl or woman who’s DONE being told to stay quiet, sit pretty, and wait for a prince. Fuck that. We’re changing the script.

Don’t f**k with Delilah, but you already know that. After all, the Delilah Bon movement is continuing with heft and pace, so you best get out of the way if you’re not willing to try and keep up. Are you a hater? Go elsewhere then, because I love Delilah Bon, even if some tracks aren’t as lovable as others. What side does Princeless Princess fall on? For me, it’s a banger. An alternative banger that challenges genre standards, has an anthemic chorus, and overall, spits fire. Awesome stuff. Check it out here.

Abigail Williams – Nonexistence

American black metallers Abigail Williams have premiered the first single ‘Nonexistence’ off their recently announced sixth studio album ‘A Void Within Existence’, coming on July 18th via Agonia Records.

Let the gloom and heaviness consume, Abigail Williams are back and with it comes a level of blackness that few others can ever dream of matching. This first single tells us that this new album might be one of their most layered, but also one of their most blistering and brutal sounding. It’s all consuming heaviness, dark and devilish, furiously intense, and unforgettable. The harbinger of things to come? Let’s hope so. Check it out here.

Eville – Get with Me

Eville redefine the definition of provocative with their latest single, ‘Get with Me’. Brighton’s rising brat metal band pull no punches while launching an atomic attack on digitally endemic unsolicited lechery.

Consistently strong, Eville don’t just make infectious and accessible bangers, they make statements, and this latest track is brilliantly venomous. Eville at their best, delivering a heavier rock sound, one that encourages plenty of movement, but one with a chorus that slays too. The ending of the track is vicious. Check it out here.

Lorna Shore – Oblivion

The rumours are true — Lorna Shore are back in 2025 with new music and a new tour to lay their stake as one of the most impressive extreme metal acts to emerge in recent memory. Their new album ‘I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me’ is set for release on September 12 via Century Media Records. It’s led by the blistering first single, ‘Oblivion’.

Says vocalist Will Ramos of the track:

Writing this song felt like the culmination of all the things that we’ve done in the past, but brought to the next level; a more evolved version of what Lorna Shore truly is. I imagined a post-apocalyptic world in the (hopefully distant) future. A world where we have sown the seeds of our own destruction. The idea that we wished for better, hoped we were doing something that would help save us in this dying world, only to end up accelerating its inevitable destruction. This brings up the question; what is right? Do we even know what we’re doing? What have we done to try and actually change anything? Are we watering the earth or just feeding a constantly growing fire?

The rise of Lorna Shore has been nothing short of startling, but they’ve earned every single fan, and now the deathcore heavyweights have the weight of expectation on them. Although one listen to this new single will tell you that they’re not bending under it. Lorna Shore are back, keeping things focused, and continuing on the path they set out with the previous record. Fast, furiously heavy, layered with extravagant symphonic elements, and exceptionally dramatic, but catchy, touches. It’s an epic, a real statement of intent, and based off this track we can safely assume this new album is going to be big.
