Weekly Release Roundup: Monday 12th May 2025 – Saturday 17th May 2025

From emotional metalcore to intense metallic hardcore, to dramatic instrumental post rock, roaring melodic death metal, abrasive industrial and electronica, it’s a big week for releases and we’ve got a list for you to check out.

Bury Tomorrow – Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience (Music For Nations / Sony Music UK)

This isn’t the best Bury Tomorrow album to date, in my opinion, but it’s a mighty fine Bury Tomorrow album none the less. Whereas The Seventh Sun (2023) was them finding their feet following the significant line-up change, this is them in a brash and confident mood, emphatically reminding listeners of their metalcore prowess, while experimenting with more cleans and electronica than ever before.

It’s time to stop talking about who Bury Tomorrow were, and focus on what they are focusing on, the future. It’s looking very, very bright.

Wounded Touch – A Vivid Depiction of Collapse (Smartpunk Records)

The record is beastly, brilliantly so, but what also makes it special is the creative touches that give Wounded Touch’s metallic hardcore sound a different vibe. Namely the mathcore side of things. Often where the record ends up being particularly creative sounding, especially as it creates a whole new degree of challenge.

Challenge that most will delight in experiencing though, as in a world of ‘heard it all before’, Wounded Touch really do feel like they’re doing something different.

KEYAN & Connor Kaminski – Kinetic (Self Released)

Two talented people working together to create something memorable and accessibly likable. Unsurprisingly, it results in magic, guitar-based magic, but words can’t fully convey just how magical the experience is.

Törzs – Menedék (Pelagic Records)

Menedék is a special release, ticking so many instrumental post rock boxes (cliches included), but doing it in such spectacular style that it ends up being one of the best releases of the year and one of the best instrumental post rock releases in some time. It really is that good, and you’ll feel it in your soul.

Youth Code – Yours, With Malice (Sumerian Records)

One of the most unique bands out there, Youth Code have always challenged musical norms and been impossible to place in a genre, yet this new record pushes that summation even further with a new sonic style and evolved state that makes this a record like nothing else, even if the sum of its parts are familiar.

Root Zero – Dark Rainbow (Self Released)

A huge album, expansive and expressive, that makes progressive metal that little more accessible, while proudly showcasing Root Zero’s incredible experimental abilities. Dark Rainbow is a very special release, and one that is guaranteed to be on regular rotation as the weeks and months go by.

Confessions Of A Traitor – This Pain Will Serve You (Facedown Records)

Confessions Of A Traitor do metalcore better than most and all the proof you need is on this album. Approaching every track with the kind of intensity normally reserved for more extreme efforts and pouring an incredible amount of ion into everything. Alongside that, it’s an album with feeling, and if you’re willing, you can connect to it in unexpected ways.

Kensei – With Death I Walk (Self Released)

Known across the UK for their ferocious live performances, Kensei now give those who have not seen them live a chance to hear what all the fuss is about. A fantastic record with eight (plus a cool intro) absolute bangers. Don’t miss out on hearing this one, Kensei deserve all your attention.
