US Extreme Metallers Ominous Ruin Reveal Clip For ‘Eternal’ – Taken From Latest Album ‘Requiem’
US extreme metallers Ominous Ruin have unveiled their latest video for the song ‘Eternal’, which released on April 25th, 2025. The video follows their earlier releases ‘Seeds Of Entropy’ and ‘Staring Into The Abysm’ and released ahead of their latest record, “Requiem”, on May 9th, 2025, through Willowtip Records. The new material is the latest to feature new vocalist Crystal Rose.
Speaking about the track, the band have said:
“There were a few goals behind the ‘Eternal’ music video. Firstly, we wanted to capture the immense performances by all individuals, because the track is such a unique ripper, everyone has their moment to shine. Second, capitalize on the lyrical themes by capturing added strain and stress. And lastly, highlight the musical elements that we really think stand out from other bands and songs.”
Discussing “Requiem”, the band elaborate on the overarching themes:
“We consider the album a formidable leap forward in both musical complexity and emotional depth. To us, “Requiem” is a powerful exploration of the human psyche, the ravages of time, and the inevitable descent into oblivion. Its conception spawned from the raw emotion of personal issues and turmoil, as it was created during a dark time in the band’s lives.”

Ominous Ruin was forged in the heart of the Bay Area, a region famed for its legendary death metal style and scene. Formed in 2010, the band started with a simple vision: to push the boundaries of extreme music, blending the raw brutality of death metal with melodic intricacies that could capture the darkest recesses of the human experience.
Initially, the group consisted of founding guitarist Alex Bacey, bassist Mitch Yoesle and vocalist Adam Rosado. Ominous Ruin were unable to maintain a consistent drummer until Harley Blandford stepped in and brought a technical prowess and creative flair that the band had always craved. They were soon ed by Joel Guernsey, a guitarist whose obsession with technical guitar work and dark, atmospheric compositions made him the perfect addition.
Following the departure of Rosado, 2023 saw the addition of new vocalist Crystal Rose. Crystal’s addition to Ominous Ruin marked a turning point in the band’s trajectory. Before her, the group had experienced modest success within the underground metal community, but they lacked the consistency to truly make an impact in the larger metal world. With a commanding presence, a guttural growl that could shake the foundation of any venue, and an ability to shift seamlessly between immense lows and ferocious screams, Crystal’s voice is unlike anything the genre has ever heard before.
Ominous Ruin’s sound is a complex tapestry of brutal, technical, melodic death metal, and black metal, with influences ranging from Necrophagist and Spawn of Possession, to Behemoth, Nile, and beyond. With “Requiem,” the music began to incorporate elements of melody and atmosphere that were previously unexplored. It marked a significant departure from their earlier, more straightforward death metal offerings, as the band embraced a more melodic yet chaotic approach to songwriting.
Whatever the future holds, one thing is certain: Ominous Ruin, with Crystal Rose at the helm, is not just a band—it is an unstoppable force, reshaping the boundaries of what extreme music can achieve. With their unwavering dedication to innovation and their ion for confronting the darkest aspects of the human experience, Ominous Ruin is poised to leave an indelible mark on the metal world for years to come.
